The island itself is only 8 km in circumference but is surrounded by a reef lagoon perfect for snorkelling.The island supports several species of bird life, flora, fauna and a population of green and loggerhead turtles.

If a day visit is simply not long enough in this tropical paradise then you can enjoy your own castaway experience camping on this remote coral cay island. This is a truly a unique experience as there are not that many places in the world where you camp under the stars in the middle of the reef.
Camping is permitted for up to 40 guests at any one time and needs to be pre-booked through Queensland National Parks and Wildlife. Facilities are basic with composting toilets, an emergency radio and fuel storage. You will need to bring all your own food and drinking water, rubbish bags, insect repellent, first aid kits, medications and reliable torches. Remember to take only photographs and leave footprints to keep our islands beautiful and healthy for humans and our wildlife.
If camping is not your style there are plenty accommodation options available on mainland at Town of 1770 or Bundaberg. In 1770 you will find backpackers, motels, hotels, resorts and private holiday homes to suit your taste and budget.
The island enjoys warm temperatures and is open all year round. If you visit between November and March you will witness turtle laying their eggs and hatching. Bird life is also abundant between October to April.
