Getting to: The Capricorn Coast

By air, road and more.
How to get to the Capricorn Coast

By Air

To visit the Great Keppel Islands from Yeppoon you will need to fly into Rockhampton Regional Airport. From here it is approximately a 40 minute drive to Yeppoon where you can join ferry services to nearby islands from the Rossyln Bay Marina. This airport is serviced by regional airlines such as Jet Go, Qantas and Virgin Australia.

By Rail

Rockhampton also has a railway station with daily services from Brisbane on the Spirit of Queensland and Tilt Train. From here you will need to catch a bus or taxi to Yeppoon. The Spirit of Queensland service operates five times a week and is a premium service that offers chef prepared meals, rail bed and in seat entertainment. The Tilt train service runs three times a week and takes approximately 7 hours. The Tilt train is a more ‘express service’; a step up from bus travel, you will have very generous legroom, an on board café for take-away style meals and drinks, in seat entertainment and amenities on board.

By Road

Renting a car is the easiest and most convenient way to reach smaller region towns to access the Great Barrier Reef. You can make the travel there apart of the holiday as you explore some of the other destinations along the way such as The Whitsundays from the North or Sunshine Coast and Fraser Island in the South East corner. You will find that having a car is the easiest way to get around this region whilst you are here. Include the Capricorn Coast in your itinerary as the stopover or as the main component of your holiday.
